Provide Spirulina to improve food security in the community
Students at Keriko Secondary are growing, experimenting with, and harvesting spirulina in two greenhouses on campus, aided by their teachers and school staff. The spirulina is provided for the benefit of the community, as a highly nutritious supplement to the school feeding program in the neighboring preschool.
The students are fully engaged in the project, and have formed the Spirulina Club, consisting of more than 50 students. The Spriluna Club champions, have gone above and beyond– both taking care of the spirulina, doing research and development activities and teaching other students and community members
